rhythms of creation

Sally’s origins began in the land, rivers, and hills of the aboriginal Lenape People in what is now New York and New Jersey. Her childhood reference points were the thirteen colonies and traditions of New England. The East coast was her home for 30 years. With her husband and young children, she relocated to Thousand Oaks, California - the ancestral land of the Chumash People. Living in the West has redefined her senses to the histories and people who she had no information about as a child and young adult.

Sally works and volunteers with the Episcopal Church in Navajoland and co-chairs the “Friends of Navajoland” group. She feels the work suits her well as she prefers to be outside appreciating nature.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

“Painting is a form of prayer and meditation for me, leading me into the rhythms of creation. Painting keeps me centered on living responsibly with the animal kingdom, acknowledging the sacred beauty of trees, birds, grass, rocks, and water.”
