My paintings are overtures to my great and not-so-great subjects.

Peter Perez was born in downtown Los Angeles and has dedicated himself to "drawing from life" for the past five years. His paintings emerge from his sketches and photos, with one session being simultaneously the subject and object of his work.

Perez is inspired by, "artists who dare to paint a morning light striking a naked loved one brushing their teeth.” He reflects “when I am truly inspired, my influences seem like a mist or a fog while I paint. I now fill the whole studio with one model’s image when I paint a portrait in order to focus the essence of that original life drawing session."
