Lena Cher

Gone With a Flow

Artist Lena Cher grew up in Moscow and is now based in Los Angeles. In Lena’s prior work she was fond of landscapes, portraits and nudity. Then five years ago, she started to really experiment and chose abstract art as her form of expression. In 2016, she continued her studies in painting, turning to modern techniques of liquid acrylic, alcohol inks and epoxy resin to create elemental visual effects.

Spiritual Practice

Lena's artistic style and aspirations changed over time along with her spiritual practice.

Her desire to stop trying to control everything in her life, to be out of control, and to find harmony with unpredictable external factors is what led her to fluid abstract art. All of this helps her trust the universe more, reduces judgment, makes her less of a perfectionist, and brings a sense of freedom to her and her work.

The first thing Lena starts her painting with is the choice of colors, they play a key role, as color carries energy. She focuses on colors, form, and composition. Lena creates organic textures that echo the movement of elements; flying and flowing images combined with thick blobs of paint and viscous resin. Experience as an actress and a model enables Lena to engage with unpredictability and surrender to improvisation allowing her to be comfortable with the freedom provided by the limitless possibilities of the genre of abstraction and the flexibility of liquid technology. The shape of the color spot evokes different emotions in each person, making our imagination and memory feel, think and we may come to discover in ourselves a unique experience and emotion.
